SUNNYVALE, Calif. [October 17, 2006] – Celunite, Inc., a leader in open mobile Linux software and professional services to the mobile phone industry, today announced that it has closed $30 million in funding, reinforcing the company’s ability to deliver leading platform and application solutions to mobile service operators, handset manufacturers and mobile phone chipset makers.

The financing round was led by Garnett & Helfrich Capital, a San Mateo, California-based private equity firm specializing in venture buyouts. Terry Garnett and David Helfrich, who are Managing Directors and founders of Garnett & Helfrich Capital, are joining Celunite’s Board of Directors.

“As the wireless industry has matured, wireless carriers, mobile handset manufacturers and others in the wireless industry will benefit from Celunite’s open platform strategy,” said Garnett. “We found Celunite’s business model compelling as it demonstrates that this is yet another arena where open source software is considered a viable alternative to the more costly and limited proprietary alternatives.”

The funding will be primarily used to expand Celunite’s open mobile Linux development team and to acquire companies that complement Celunite’s leadership position in the mobile Linux community. Celunite is actively recruiting engineers with embedded Linux, middleware, and mobile applications expertise to join its strong engineering teams in Pune and Hyderabad, India.
